Lepidium Control Program
Lepidium or perennial peppergrass is an invasive plant/weed that thrives in the Suisun Marsh.
Lepidium latifolium or perennial peppergrass is another invasive plant that thrives in the Suisun Marsh. The SRCD Pest Weed Control Program can also help landowners gain control of this pest plant.
Lepidium treatment differs from Phragmites treatment because the chemical used (Telar®) is not available for use by the general public. Telar® is a controlled chemical and may only be applied by a certified chemical applicator. Therefore, grants received by the SRCD help to offset the cost of contracting with a professional pesticide applicator to treat Lepidium on private property.
A detailed map showing Lepidium patch location(s) must be provided to SRCD with an estimate of the total acreage of Lepidium to be treated. Landowners will be billed for the actual application time and herbicide used for application on their property. Letters for this program are available in April.
